Episode 48 Transcript
Hey everyone, it is me, Lisa, and welcome back to another episode of The Other 99%. I am super excited to be here with you today as we are fast approaching 2025. I honestly think it’s the best time to sit and reflect on your business to see what was working, what’s not working, and what you want to change going into 2025. I’m going to go through a couple of tips to help you with your reflection process and maybe make it easier for you to set those big goals and dreams for 2025. Let’s go.
First, I want you to sit back and reflect on some of your wins from 2024. Whether you take a moment to sit in silence and think about everything you’ve accomplished that made you proud, or maybe you have it recorded somewhere, like in your reports or back office, go through it. Reflect on things like sales milestones, team growth, or personal development you were involved in. What made you happy in 2024? What got you excited?
Be sure to take some time to show gratitude to anyone who helped with those wins. Whether it’s a personal message or a shout-out on Facebook, putting gratitude forward will always come back to you in return.
Next, let’s talk about challenges. I think all of us faced some challenges in 2024. Take a moment to reflect on what was challenging for you and why. Did it have to do with things you can control? For example, maybe you didn’t set enough time aside, didn’t have the right resources, or weren’t motivated. These are all things you can change.
Going into 2025, think about how you’ll manage your time and schedule better. Are you going to treat your business like a job by setting specific hours during the week to work on it? These are great things to reflect on because they’re completely within your control.
Another point: review your systems and habits. You know I’m all about systems. If you don’t have systems in place, your business might feel like it’s flopping around aimlessly. Now is the perfect time to review the systems you have.
Do you have a time management system? A follow-up system? A social media system? Are they working for you? Are you confident in them? If not, look at what needs improvement.
I’ll give a quick shout-out here because I love collaborating with others. I have a group of ladies coming together on December 27th to talk about systems. We’ll analyze what worked this year and incorporate new ideas for 2025. Systems are so important because they’re easily duplicatable. If you have a great social media system, for instance, you can hand it down to your team members. Even those who do in-person business still need a social component these days. Having an easily shareable system is like hitting the “easy button” for your team.
Think about systems for retaining customers, training your team, or creating content for social media. Do you have these systems in place, or are you flying by the seat of your pants? Are you relying solely on the content your company provides? If that’s the case, I highly recommend stepping up your social media game in 2025. Copying and pasting the same posts as thousands of other consultants isn’t going to work anymore.
Now, let’s revisit your goals. Did you set a goal for 2024? If so, did you achieve it, fall short, or surpass it? Why? How did you land where you did with your goal?
When setting goals, think about whether they were SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. For example, if you had $10,000 in sales in 2023 but set a goal for $150,000 in 2024, that might not have been entirely achievable in one year. Don’t get me wrong—it’s possible with hard work—but that’s more of a long-term goal.
Take time now to evaluate how you’re setting your goals. Use this opportunity to pull out your vision board if you have one. Do you set yearly themes or words of the year? These are all great practices to carry forward into 2025.
Another important point: think about your customers. This might sound odd, but we all have ideal customers—the ones who align with our values, trust us, and resonate with what we offer. For example, my ideal customer is someone looking for quick, healthy meals. They’re not necessarily focused on the fact that Epicure is gluten-free, even though that’s a great feature. Instead, they want to feed their families good food without spending hours in the kitchen.
Reflect on what you offered your customers in 2024. What worked well? What got the most reactions or engagement? Look at their buying habits. Were there certain products that sold more because you promoted them frequently? If so, consider expanding your product knowledge or usage to improve your customers’ experiences.
When’s the last time you revisited your “why”? Why are you doing this business? Your “why” evolves over time. The reason I joined 18 years ago and the reason I’m still here today are completely different.
Make sure your “why” is strong enough to keep you motivated. They say your “why” should be so powerful it makes you cry. Reflect on this and ensure it’s front and center as you plan for 2025. Whether it’s in your planner, vision board, or another system, having your “why” visible helps keep you grounded.
You hear me talk about this all the time because I truly believe in its importance. Take time for personal growth by listening to inspiring podcasts, reading books, or even tuning in to audiobooks. There’s so much information available to help you grow
I recommend setting aside time for this in your schedule. For example, pick out a book to read each month for the next three months. Dedicate 15 minutes a day to reading or listening. Personally, I like to start my day with some “me time” to reflect and listen to podcasts or audiobooks. It’s a great way to focus and set a positive tone for the day.
As we approach 2025, work on creating a vision board. Canva has so many templates available—just search for “vision board” and you’ll find options. Gone are the days of cutting pictures from magazines; now you can create your board digitally and print it out to keep in front of you.
Set your goals and intentions for the year, and—this is the key—put them on paper. Writing things down makes a big difference.
This is something I’m working on myself, and I highly recommend it for 2025. Set up a system to write down what you’re thankful for each day or week. Focus on who and what you appreciate. Putting gratitude into the universe can only bring positive results
Let’s face it—2024 was a strange year for business. I think many of us felt it. But even if things didn’t go as planned or meet your expectations, there are always good things to take away. Find those positives, build on them, and let them guide you to make 2025 your best year in business yet.
I hope you enjoyed these tips, and we’ll see you again next week for another episode of The Other 99%. Take care!
